Some foods have whitening qualities to get you started right now.

1. Strawberries

How It Works

We are going to start with one of the most delicious ways to whiten your teeth. Strawberries contain Malic Acid, which helps remove discoloration from your teeth. This berry also contains Vitamin C which has many health benefits. Vitamin C provides essential collagen which acts as a critical building block for healthy gums. Collagen maintains and repairs gum tissue and has antioxidant properties.

How to Use It

Mash up ripe strawberries and, using a soft bristle toothbrush, apply to your teeth. Leave it on for 3-5 minutes then rinse. Floss to remove any small pieces between your teeth.

BONUS TIP: For extra strength add a small amount of baking soda.

Apply it for at least one week to see results.

2. Coconut Oil

How It Works

Coconut oil pulling is another easy and tasty method to whiten your teeth. Oil pulling is used not only to whiten your teeth but also to remove toxins and plaque bacteria from your mouth.

Coconut oil contains antioxidants. There are millions of good and bad bacteria in your mouth, and harmful bacteria is what stays on your teeth resulting in plaque. Plaque causes cavities, bad breath, gum inflammation and discoloration of teeth.

How to Use it

Take a small spoon of coconut in your mouth. Let it melt and then swish for approximately 5 minutes.

Avoid spitting coconut oil in your sink, toilet or shower as it may clog the drain.

Try it for a week to see results.

3. Orange and Lemon Peels

How it Works

Skins of the oranges and lemons contain d-limonene and vitamin C, just like strawberries. Both of these natural ingredients help make your teeth whiter. However, acidity in the juice can, in high amounts, break down tooth enamel so rinse your mouth with warm water after drinking freshly squeezed juices.

How to Use It

Use the white part of the skins to rub on your teeth for about a minute or two. Then rinse with warm water and  floss to remove small particles.

Repeat twice a day for at least a week to see results.

4. Apples

How it Works

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" - there is some truth to that.  At the very least it may keep the dentist away. Firm, crunchy apples have a fibrous texture, and it's skin, helps to remove plaque and bacteria from your teeth. Just like other fruits, apples contain about 15% of the required daily intake of Vitamin C, which is vital in keeping your mouth and gums healthy, but also provides whitening qualities. So just enjoy your apple and whiten your teeth in the process.

Apples also contain a high amount of potassium, which helps build stronger bones and teeth.

Deliciously good for you!

How to Use It

Eat your apple whole then rinse with warm water and floss to remove any small pieces.
